Terms of Use
Effective and last updated October 19, 2026 · Version 2026-10-19
TVHeight helps you explore a better viewing position. Its AI estimates are a starting point for planning, not approval to install a TV.
- Use photos you own or have permission to upload and process.
- Check real measurements, hardware, structure, and fireplace clearances before installation.
- Saving is optional and makes your submitted photos viewable by anyone with the share link.
1. Agreement and eligibility
These Terms govern use of tvheight.app, operated by an independent individual based in Illinois, United States (“TVHeight,” “we,” or “us”). By affirmatively accepting these Terms before requesting an assessment, you agree to them. You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into an agreement to use the room-planning service. A person can report a privacy or copyright concern through the contact form without requesting an assessment.
Our Privacy Policy explains information processing. It is a notice of our practices and does not require you to waive privacy rights. Viewing a shared assessment does not give you ownership of the photos or permission to use them elsewhere.
2. AI estimates and viewing opinions
TVHeight is a free visual planning tool for living rooms, dens and home basements. Room geometry, screen sizes, heights, camera matching, seating locations, and classifications are inferred from incomplete photos and optional user measurements. The model can miss objects, misread perspective, distort geometry, or produce an incorrect assessment. A rendered room may not match the actual dimensions or conditions.
“Too high,” “at eye level,” and similar labels express the tool’s estimated seated-viewing guidance. They are not medical advice, a building-code determination, a safety certification, or a guarantee of comfort. Bedroom and public-space responses are contextual opinions rather than installation recommendations.
3. Installation, walls and fireplaces
Do not rely on a photo assessment or model dimensions as installation instructions. Independently verify measurements, wall construction, stud or masonry attachment, mount and fastener ratings, TV weight, electrical/plumbing locations, and all relevant manufacturer instructions and local requirements. Use a qualified installer where appropriate.
The model cannot inspect hidden structure, wiring, heat exposure, or the condition of a wall or fireplace. Fireplace and mantel-mount simulations do not validate safe clearances, heat limits, mounting feasibility, or the mechanism’s actual travel and swing path. A TV that looks lower or appears to fit in the preview may still be unsafe, impractical, or too high. Do not operate a fireplace with a TV lowered in front of it unless the applicable manufacturers explicitly permit the arrangement.
You are responsible for verifying the physical installation before acting on any visualization. Nothing on this site replaces the TV, mount, fireplace or building manufacturer’s instructions or applicable law.
4. Your photos and permission
You retain any rights you have in your photos. You confirm that you own them or otherwise have the rights and permissions needed to upload them, have them processed by our service providers, and, if you choose to save, make them viewable by others through a link. A photo being publicly posted on Reddit or elsewhere does not by itself establish that you have those permissions.
You give the operator a limited, non-exclusive permission to process your submissions to provide the assessment, use service providers for that purpose, and store and display the saved assessment when you choose to save it. This does not transfer ownership or grant a right to sell your photos or use them in unrelated advertising. The permission lasts only as needed for the service you request and permitted retention described in our Privacy Policy.
Avoid other people’s faces, private documents, addresses and sensitive information. Do not upload unlawful material or material that infringes someone’s copyright, privacy or other rights. We may remove or restrict access to content reasonably believed to violate these Terms or applicable law.
5. Optional saved assessments
Choosing Save assessment stores your submitted photos and a snapshot of the assessment. Anyone who obtains the share link can view it without signing in. Anyone who obtains the private management link can delete it. Keep that link secure; we do not provide public user accounts or guaranteed recovery of a lost link.
Saved assessments currently have no automatic expiry and remain until deleted by you or the operator, or the service ends. Availability, link permanence, and backup or recovery are not guaranteed. Maintain your own originals. Deletion cannot recall copies or screenshots held by others. Contact us if you need help with a removal request.
6. Fair use of the service
Do not bypass security checks or request limits, interfere with the service, scrape or guess private links, attempt unauthorized access, submit harmful code, or use the service for illegal activity. We may apply limits, suspend access, remove content, or discontinue features to control costs, protect others, maintain security, or comply with law. Free access and optional donations do not promise a particular service level, response time, or future availability.
7. Third-party services
Assessments use OpenAI and hosting/security providers described in the Privacy Policy. Links to external sites, products or reference specifications are for convenience and do not certify their safety or suitability. Optional donations are processed by Buy Me a Coffee under its own terms; they do not purchase installation advice or a guaranteed assessment.
8. Warranties and liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not guarantee a safe mounting location or an exact reproduction of your room.
To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from use of the service, including loss of data or profits. To the extent permitted by law, the operator’s total liability for claims arising from the service is limited to US $100.
These exclusions and limitations do not apply to fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, personal injury caused by our negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Nothing in these Terms waives non-waivable consumer, privacy, or other statutory rights. The effect of these provisions depends on the law that applies to a particular claim.
9. Privacy and copyright concerns
Use Contact / Report a photo to identify a saved assessment and explain a privacy, copyright, or other concern. For copyright concerns, identify the original work, the material you believe is infringing, your authority to report it, and a reply contact. We may need additional information to evaluate a request or a formal legal notice. Please do not submit identity documents, private management tokens, or unnecessary sensitive information through this form.
We will review reports and may remove content or request clarification. A report does not automatically establish infringement or entitle the reporter to another person’s information.
10. Applicable law and changes
Illinois law governs these Terms to the extent permitted by law, excluding conflict-of-laws rules. Mandatory protections and rights available under otherwise applicable law remain unaffected. Nothing prevents you from contacting a regulator or seeking relief in a court with jurisdiction.
Material changes to these Terms will be identified with a new version and presented for acceptance before a new assessment is requested. New Terms do not retroactively establish consent to an earlier action. The version accepted when an assessment was requested applies to that request. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
